What Concierge Dental Care in Cartagena Includes

By Dr. Julio Oliver Dental Team

Concierge dental care means we coordinate the travel side of your treatment, not just the dentistry. At Dr. Julio Oliver Dental in Cartagena, most plans include airport pickup and transportation to your appointments; your quote confirms what yours covers (FAQs, Plan Your Visit). Most plans also include a free virtual consultation, digital imaging, bilingual support and hotel recommendations, and our team stays in touch with you on WhatsApp before, during and after your trip.

Here's what that support covers, how it works step by step, and what to ask any clinic before you book.

What does concierge dental care mean for international patients?

When you travel for dental work, the logistics matter almost as much as the treatment: getting from the airport, reaching each appointment on time, finding a place to stay and knowing who to call if something comes up. The CDC notes that medical tourists often use private companies or medical concierge services to find and arrange care abroad (CDC Yellow Book 2026).

At Dr. Julio Oliver Dental, our own team handles that coordination. As our FAQs put it, "Our team handles logistics," and many of our patients come on their own (FAQs). Because the same team coordinates your care and your logistics, your dental and travel questions go to one place.

What's included in our concierge care?

According to our FAQs and our Plan Your Visit page, most plans include:

  • A free virtual consultation and smile analysis before you travel, with a personalized quote after your photo evaluation.
  • Airport pickup at Cartagena's Rafael Núñez International Airport (CTG).
  • Transportation to your appointments.
  • Digital imaging as part of your treatment planning.
  • Bilingual support from a team trained in international patient care.
  • Hotel recommendations, including accommodations for anyone traveling with you.

Your quote confirms what yours covers.

We also coordinate with you on WhatsApp during your stay, follow up by WhatsApp and email after you return home, and give you recovery guidance (activity and food guidelines based on your treatment) (FAQs).

We recommend hotels, but we don't list flights or hotel stays as included. Plan and budget for those yourself, and confirm exactly what your quote covers before you book.

How does the process work, step by step?

Our How It Works page describes six steps. Here's where the concierge support fits into each one:

  1. Free virtual consultation. Send photos of your smile through the contact form. The form also asks how you prefer to be contacted (email, WhatsApp or phone), where you're traveling from and your preferred travel date. Our guide to taking great dental photos for your virtual pre-evaluation shows what to send.
  2. Get your quote and plan your trip. Our FAQs suggest booking about 2–3 weeks ahead so we can review your case, confirm your schedule and plan logistics. In many cases, you can travel within a week of the virtual evaluation once the plan is approved.
  3. Arrival in Cartagena. Most plans include airport pickup; your quote confirms whether yours does.
  4. Begin your treatment. Most plans include transportation to your appointments at our office in Bocagrande, and our bilingual team walks you through every step.
  5. Enjoy Cartagena during your recovery. We give you activity guidelines for your treatment. The CDC advises that typical vacation activities (alcohol, strenuous exercise, sunbathing, swimming and long tours) can slow healing after a procedure (CDC Yellow Book 2026).
  6. Final check and return home. Ask us whether your plan covers the ride back to the airport; your quote confirms it. Our team stays reachable on WhatsApp and email after you leave.

How does concierge care help dental implant patients?

Implant treatment usually happens over two trips, so the logistics happen twice. On the first trip, plan on about 5–8 days in Cartagena for the consultation, imaging and implant placement. Most implants then need about 3–6 months of healing at home before the final teeth are placed on a second trip. Our article on why proper healing time matters for dental implants explains why that wait matters. For full-arch cases, see full-arch implants in Cartagena: who qualifies and what to expect.

Concierge support helps here in practical ways: airport pickup and appointment transport on both trips if your plan includes them, and WhatsApp contact while you heal at home. We also offer a 3-year warranty on implants (FAQs). Your exact timeline depends on your case and is set in your treatment plan.

Flying after a procedure deserves a conversation, too. The CDC notes that surgery and air travel each raise the risk of blood clots (CDC Yellow Book 2026). Ask our team, and your own doctor, when it's safe for you to fly home.

What should you ask any clinic about its travel support?

Whichever clinic you choose, get clear answers before you book. The CDC suggests confirming which services are included in the cost, whether follow-up care carries extra fees and where it happens, and what the plan is if complications occur. It also suggests requesting copies of your records in English (CDC Yellow Book 2026). Useful questions:

  • Which services are included in my quote, and which aren't (flights, hotel, medications)?
  • Is airport pickup included in my plan, and does it cover both my arrival and my departure?
  • Who is my contact during the trip, and how do I reach them?
  • What happens if I need help after I'm home?
  • Will I get copies of my records and imaging in English?
  • What does the warranty cover, and what does it require of me?

What should you know about getting to Cartagena?

  • Flights: CTG receives direct flights from major U.S. cities (Plan Your Visit). United plans new year-round nonstops from Houston (IAH) and Washington Dulles (IAD) starting December 17, 2026, at four flights a week, subject to government approval (United Airlines, June 2026).
  • Entry: U.S. citizens don't need a visa for tourism stays of 90 days or less. Your passport must be valid for your whole stay, and the State Department recommends six months of validity. It also says to complete Colombia's free online Check-Mig form within 72 hours before your flight (U.S. State Department).
  • Safety: the State Department rates Colombia Level 3 ("Reconsider travel"). Cartagena's department, Bolívar, isn't among its "Do Not Travel" areas. Advisories change, so check the current one before you book (U.S. Embassy in Colombia, March 2026). The State Department also advises against hailing taxis on the street, so pre-arranged pickups and appointment transport are a practical advantage.
  • What to pack: your passport, lightweight clothing and a phone with WhatsApp (Plan Your Visit).

How do I get started?

Start with a free virtual consultation. Send photos of your smile and any recent X-rays, and our care team will reach out to help with your photos and give you a personalized quote. From there, we plan your trip with you.
